Abstract :
The present investigation is focused in the production of hydrogen in the chemical plasma processing of heavy oil. A nonthermal plasma plate-to-plate reactor has been investigated to convert heavy oil into hydrogen, by using argon as a carrier gas. The results obtained show a very promising process for the production of hydrogen-rich gas with the important advantage to be free of carbon monoxide. The hydrogen is produced with a selectivity of about 70%, enabling this process to be considered as a high-quality hydrogen production method.
