Abstract :
This paper presents a firefly algorithm (FA) for tuning the proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller parameters in order to achieve a desired transient response. The proposed approach has superior features including easy implementation, stable convergence characteristic and good computational efficiency. Comparing with Ziegler-Nichols method, the proposed method is more efficient in improuving the step response characteristics.
