Abstract
In this paper, the resonance frequencies of electrons in single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) are investigated with strict quantum transition theory. The energy dispersion relations of a single metallic SWCNT are analyzed to get the exact electronic band assignation. With the application of one-dimensional hard wall boundary conditions, intraband electronic states of a finite length SWCNT are quantized. Then quantum transition theory is applied in the investigation of interband electronic transitions. The resonance frequencies revealed by this method are partly coincident with the numerical results calculated by quasi-classical method developed in reference papers.
