  • Abstract
    A method based on phase-sensitive OTDR is proposed for distributed birefringence measurements along optical fibres. A high accuracy is experimentally demonstrated, enabling the characterisation of single-mode fibres with a minimum detectable birefringence of the order of 10-7.
