Abstract :
In the recent years, sensor network becomes more and more common. It has wide-range commercial and daily applications from surveillance to smart home, from raw data collection to context awareness. With the development of the semantic technology, the sensor network has changed significantly. In this paper we propose an architecture of four-layered sensor network: the hardware platform layer consists of various sensors which provide raw data; the network layer organizes the network based on ZigBee; and the semantic processing layer uses OWL to built ontology for data understanding, and the application layer provide a platform for users to design and build the semantic service. It adds the flexibility and interoperability effectively. Finally, we design an experimental platform to test and verify the feasibility of the proposed layered architecture and the application of the semantic technology for data processing in the sensor network. The experimental results show that the sensor network based on layered architecture operates stably and the semantic improves the efficiency of data processing.
