Abstract :
a In this paper, we propose an algorithm to conceal bit errors in still image that is coded using block discrete cosine transforms and variable-length codes. We keep the algorithm simple so that real time decoding and concealment is possible. We take the edge components of an image into consideration in order to achieve satisfactory quality. The proposed algorithm is activated only when errors are detected by adding the self-synchronizing code, by which the calculation required for the decoder is reduced
