Abstract :
An optimal parametric LQ (linear quadratic) control developed for frequency-shaped performance measures that provides a useful extension for the LQ regulator control theory is presented. The approach provides a unified treatment of frequency-shaping control which emphasizes or deemphasizes the control and controlled variables over specific bands of frequencies. The results generalize those previously presented, and have the potential for a wide range of applications. The design of active suspension control for a 1/4 car model is considered. It is shown that the frequency-shaping optimal control techniques provide an effective tool for incorporating human sensitivity to vibration at difficult frequencies in the design process
