Abstract :
Brushless DC motors are used in different type of motor applications. While brushless DC motors used in space and military applications require high reliability and high performance, they require low cost and high efficiency in daily life applications. Obtaining higher performance with the same cost level is a remarkable and competitive factor in the market. In this study, the performance effects of magnet array variations on brushless DC motor are investigated under certain constraints. Test brushless DC motor is used for the dishwasher main circulation pump application and analyzed with different magnet configurations including Halbach arrays with the same magnet volume, drive hardware and stator set. The finite element analysis is carried out to compare the numerical results for different configurations.
