Abstract
A personal-computer-based simulation program called CLASS (control loop analysis and simulation system) is presented. The program is suitable for simulating computer-controlled motor drives and a wide range of other systems. It allows a system designer to interactively tune practical digital controllers. The plant/process can be specified by mathematical models such as transfer functions or state variables-continuous or discrete. The wordlength of interface devices can be varied interactively, and relevant system responses can be observed and monitored graphically or stored for further study. The program is illustrated by practical examples
