Abstract :
We have developed a high-performance l0-Gbit/s optical receiver using an avalanche photodiode (APD) and heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT) ICs. Using an InP-InGaAs APD, it is possible to fabricate a compact and cost-effective optical receiver without an optical preamplifier for applications such as short-haul trunklines and local area networks
