Abstract :
The optimization of equipment used for the transmission of CATV signals on single mode optical fibers is described. This equipment uses a high power, high linearity laser diode and makes it possible to transmit a multiplex consisting of 54 TV channels modulated in AM-vestigial sideband (VSB), in the 48-862 MHz frequency range, with an optical power budget as high as 12 dB. This equipment is especially well suited for being used both in long distance trunk lines and in tree-and-branch parts of CATV networks
