Abstract :
This paper proposes a new method for probabilistic reliability evaluation with Tabu Search (TS) of meta-heuristics (MH). Recently, the power networks increase the degree of the uncertainties due to the new environment of power network liberations, the emergence of the renewable energy, etc. The importance of the probabilistic reliability assessment of electric power systems has been recognized as a necessary analytical tool. As a result, probabilistic reliability evaluation has been broadly used for power system operation and planning due to the capability of considering various system uncertainties. In this paper, the mathematical formulation of probabilistic reliability evaluation is expressed as a combinational optimization problem that finds out more critical system states. To find out better solutions, TS of MH is used as an optimization technique. TS is useful for evaluating the meaningful system states with adaptive memory called tabu-list that allows the algorithm to escape from a local minimum. The effectiveness of the proposed method is successfully demonstrated to the IEEE Reliability Test System (IEEE-RTS).
