Abstract
Processing intensive continuous flows of data is a challenging problem in many engineering and scientific applications. A scheme is developed which combines archiving of collected data with their real-time processing. This scheme employs new types of hardware components for on-the-fly computations and memory-based reasoning. Implementation of this scheme would require a balanced approach to the issues of VLSI design, feature extraction, and overall organization of information retrieval
