Abstract
Summary form only given. A detailed computer model has been developed at Oxford to solve this problem, the accuracy of which is compared to small scale experiments on lumped element lines which use varaetor (tuning diodes) as the non-linear element. This has enabled an understanding of why the soliton oscillations collapse at the load and suggested ways in which the oscillation energy can be coupled out of the line with good efficiency. This paper will describe this work together with a description of the high power generator experiments which are now planned.
