Abstract :
Features and structure of Russian electric power supply systems and distribution networks are described. Since a significant share of Russia´s regional territories is not covered by centralized electricity supply, the virtual power plant concept is considered for two cases: when power supply systems operating autonomously and when they are connected to the main grid. For the latter case the tasks (functions) of virtual power plant are considered.
