Abstract
Voltage fluctuation and flicker level induced by grid-connected wind power may exceed the national standard, resulting in serious power quality problems, which makes it necessary to assess these two items before wind power connection, so as to obtain proper proposal of project implementation. In this paper, the voltage fluctuation and flicker caused by a new-developed wind farm connected to a weak system are assessed. The entire assessment system of wind farm is built in PSCAD/EMTDC with 132 simplified DFIGs models and wind speed models based on the actual measured data. The voltage fluctuations induced by gust and ramp wind with variable amplitudes under different wind power outputs is calculated and also, the voltage fluctuation values of different system strength is analyzed. Short-term flicker value Pst is got from IEC flickermeter with high accuracy at low frequencies, and the project proposal is obtained according the results of assessment.
