  • Abstract
In this work the possibility of the propagation of surface electromagnetic waves along the boundary of two various superlattices is theoretically shown. Amplitudes of such fields exponentially decrease in both sides from plane of lattice. It is shown that three types of surface waves exist: 0-modes, πmodes and mixed modes. The field´s distribution character in the 0-mode repeats in superlattices over one period, in the π-mode it repeats over two periods. The field distribution in the mixed mode in one of the superlattices repeats over one period, but in the other it repeats over two periods. It is analyzed that the distribution of energy flow in surface wave is on layers of lattice. In addition, a calculation of the penetration depth of the field in superlattices is made. It is shown that penetration depth decreases when dispersion curve s of surface wave is removed from the boundary of the allowed zone.
