Abstract
The problem of electrical power network reliability is addressed. In particular, the loss of load probability (LOLP) at individual load nodes is considered as the index of reliability. An algorithm is presented to evaluate this index based on minimal pathset and dual fault tree techniques. Specification of loading condition determines the direction of power flow in each and every element of the system. Any change in the loading condition resulting in a change in power flow orientation will result in a change in reliability results. The algorithm gives encouraging results with small and moderately sized systems (5- and 14-bus systems). It is expected that it will be equally successful with large systems
