Abstract :
Recently, dispersion-shifted fibers (DSFs) with large effective core areas have been widely studied and demonstrated by employing various index profiles. In the paper, we show that DSFs with effective core areas >85 μm2 and excellent bending loss performance can be realized by properly optimizing the dual-shaped core profile, which is one of the major refractive index profiles employed by the currently mass-produced standard DSFs
