Abstract :
Regular virtual topologies, built on top of actual network´s physical topologies, are proposed for realizing wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) optical fiber systems. These topologies provide simplicity in routing and flow control. The architectures are generally built upon physical topologies, which are vulnerable to link failures. Because most multihop WDM fiber networks are well-connected mesh structures, the traffic-based reliability analysis, defined in terms of the percentage of the blocked traffic in the face of link failures, is adopted in WDM network studies
