  • Abstract
To flatten the gain in a wavelength range as wide as possible is, of course, the primary target, but it is also essential not to deteriorate the noise figure (NF) or the energy conversion efficiency. It is well known that doping Al in the erbium-doped fiber (EDF) broadens the gain bandwidth. It has been demonstrated that excellent gain flatness can be achieved in the wavelength range from 1544-1557 nm by careful optimization of the length of high-concentration Al doped EDF
