Author_Institution :
FREEDM Syst. Center, North Carolina State Univ., Raleigh, NC, USA
Abstract :
This panel paper outlines the undergoing research towards the development of a novel smart distribution system at the Future Renewable Electric Energy Delivery and Management (FREEDM) Systems Center. The center´s mission is to develop fundamental and enabling technologies necessary for a next generation smart distribution systems which can facilitate seamless integration of distributed recourses. The paper will also highlight center´s education programs that are being developed for educating the next generation of power engineers who will be needed for the development and management of such systems.
