Abstract :
We have proposed a new technique named Brillouin ring amplification system (BRAS), that enables us to measure tensile strain on an optical fiber that vibrates with frequencies less than 1 Hz. Theoretical studies of the method have been supported by fundamental lab experiments. In this paper, further experiments with long fibers are reported to demonstrate its performance and practical applicability
