Abstract :
This paper presents the merits of multibeam free electron masers (FEM), which are capable of increasing the electronic efficiency, the output signal power, decreasing the operating magnetic field and acceleration voltage and, as a consequence, reducing the weight and dimensions of radiation sources, as compared to single beam FEMs. The results from theoretical and experimental studies suggest that multibeam FEMs are a promising subclass of vacuum nonrelativistic sources of millimeter- and submillimeter-wave electromagnetic radiation. There devices offer the energy characteristics that comply with modern requirements.
