Abstract :
Increasing popularity of security prompted interests in person identification using face recognition. However, many 2D (image-based) face recognition methods appear to be sensitive to illumination conditions, head-pose and scale. In this paper, we propose a new 3D face recognition system using 3D face shapes obtained from stereo pair face images. The 3D shapes are rendered under various illumination conditions, head-pose, scale and occlusion. The effectiveness of our system is demonstrated by the experimental results.
