Abstract
The theory of road traffic flow with flow disturbance like an intersection was developed by means of t-s diagram theory. By applying the t-s diagram theory, traffic bottlenecks are generalized as a unified concept and flows in any case including traffic congestions can be treated with simple formulae as functions of measurable parameters such as a signal time sequence, period of signals, vehicle speed, time headway, etc. The results are applicable to ease traffic flow control for shortening travel time, and/or prediction of traffic situation in urban area or high way.
