Abstract :
Modern microcontrollers provide a mechanism where power line quality can be measured, problems diagnosed and solutions implemented before system damage/corruption occurs. For the purposes of this paper, power to computer systems will be the primary focus. Therefore, the terms damage and corruption will refer to physical damage to the computer and the corruption of data in active memory or on nonvolatile media, respectively. The microprocessor to be used as an example in this case is the MC68HC16Y1, a modular device that has a sophisticated timing module, an analog-to-digital converter and a serial communication system as peripheral modules to the CPU16 core
