Abstract :
A Silicon Optical Bench (SiOB) consists of V-grooves and 45° angled graded index Multi Mode Fibers (MMFs) is proposed to couple multi mode Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) chip array to MMFs and MMFs to PIN photodiode chip array without using any additional micro-optical elements. Misalignments corresponding to this structure are investigated using ray tracing method. The aim is to optimize SiOB and investigate misalignments effect on coupling efficiency.
