Abstract :
A novel configuration and fast computation scheme for multi-input and single-output digital controllers using multiple digital signal processors is proposed. Using this method, a minimum sampling period is achieved and minimum throughput time is attained under reasonable conditions. The problem is formulated as an optimization problem. When all the coefficients of the transfer function matrix of the controller are considered not zero, an explicit optimal solution is given. Whenever those coefficients contain zeros, skipping zero computation leads to faster computation. The zero-coefficient case is formulated as an optimization problem. The problem is further simplified under reasonable conditions. The authors propose solution algorithms for the suboptimal problem thus given: a heuristic method and a branch-and-bound method
