Abstract :
The Aria is a musical instrument prototype developed as a useful demonstration tool. A part of the Aria is based on a fundamental design that was developed in the early part of the twentieth century. This design was called a Theremin. The Theremin was an instrument that created a single continuous sound as the performer´s hand approached an antenna. The Aria expands the Theremin´s design because it generates the twelve notes in 1½, octaves as the performer´s hand approaches a sensing antenna. As a demonstration tool, the Aria provides a creative introduction to electronics and electromagnetic theory. As a musical instrument, the Aria is a new and unique way of creating music
