Abstract :
The EBU (European Broadcasting Union) has acquired a significant experience in proposing metadata solutions to broadcasters and content providers, all with varying needs. This paper explains how metadata modelling has evolved from XML to RDF/OWL with the recent publications of the EBUCore ontology as a Linked Open Vocabulary (LOV), the EBU Class Conceptual Data Model (CCDM) of audiovisual production and the EBUSport vocabulary. The EBU operates the worldwide Eurovision network for news gathering and sport coverage under contract of international federations. The EBUSport ontology is presented in this paper for the first time as part of the approach proposed for the management of metadata and video footage in advanced sport production.
