Abstract
Thermo-sensor for a fiber-optic fluorescence thermometer has been developed using Eu doped Y2SiO5 (YSO) crystal grown by floating zone (FZ) technique. Photoluminescence peaking at 593 nm, 610 nm and 701 nm are observed in the crystals under illumination of UV light. 2 at% Eu doped YSO crystal is found to be the most suitable sensor material for the temperature measurement became of strong PL intensity. Peak intensity of PL from 2 at% Eu doped YSO decreases gradually with temperature from 350 K to 600 K. From these studies, Eu doped YSO crystals are useful sensor materials in fiber-optic fluorescence thermo-meter
