Abstract :
This paper presents the use of a simple PI-speed controller in actively damping high-frequency mechanical oscillations of a three inertia system. This task needs a rather noise and disturbance free speed signal without significant phase lag. Here, two possibilities are given to generate this signal. The first one is the use of an observer, with the help of the acceleration signal of a Ferraris acceleration sensor, and the second is an observer of the whole mechanical system. The control was implemented in a 5 kW servo induction machine plant. The measured results show the performance of the different solutions at this plant.
