Abstract :
The fin stabilizer is used to reduce the roll motion of ship at zero speed, which is a new application of fin stabilizer. In order to study the process of lift generation of fin stabilizer at zero speed, the model of lift generation of Weis-Fogh flapped fin stabilizer is built based on the cascade theory of Weis-Fogh flapping-wings by the conformal representation and the process of lift generation is simulated. The complex potential of Weis-Fogh flapped fin stabilizer is calculated according to the potential flow theory and the singular integrals. The result shows that the Weis-Fogh flapped fin stabilizer could produce larger lift at zero speed at initial stages of start-up. The hydrodynamic of flapped fin stabilizer is very good indeed. The lift model can be used as references to research more on the ship anti roll at zero speed later. This project has been supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China
