Abstract :
Success of software projects depends upon several factors which includes ability of the software to be failure free. There exist several techniques to either eliminate or resolve or to reduce the impact of failures that inevitability prevails with any projects. This paper throws an insight to the various applications of real time embedded projects. It aims to bring out the significance of avoiding failures during the software development lifecycle which helps to improve the software quality. The paper discusses a case study to analyse various factors such as cost, time, failure count and function points to derive the complexity of the projects. It also analyses and categorises the projects into different levels of challenges by considering factors such as rework cost and time. It further provides the major rationale for software project failures and its associated recommendations to avoid them.
