Abstract :
This paper presents a system description of the Aquatrainer I, an electronic system based on mobile technology, web application programming and digital signal processing designed for real-time training control of multiple long distance or open water swimmers. During the physical activity the system captures partial time and distance information, assists the swimmer with information on completed distance, and presents multiple stopwatches with speed and performance indicators for each swimmer. Speed information is filtered with a low pass IIR digital filter for display. Performance curves can be projected immediately after swimming for immediate analysis. The system is unique in the sense that it is designed specifically for training of multiple athletes, its capability to adapt performance criteria and speed for each athelete on an individual basis and feedback in cuasi real time.
