Abstract :
Developments in techniques for modelling of photodiodes used in optical parametric receivers are examined. As parametric operation is non-linear and quasiperiodic in nature, special modelling techniques art required. The effect of diode parameters (e.g. capacitance) on the gain and bandwidth have been examined. Time domain techniques have been used for simulation. Different nonlinear models for depicting the photodiode have been evolved during the course of the analysis. A summarized analytical derivation is also presented. Finally, the results obtained from an experimental down converter are included
