Abstract :
The wide band rejection of superconducting thin film filters is investigated. The cross talk between input and output ports for thin film filters degrades the wide band rejection. We present a thin film filter design based on a newly invented thin film resonator. The cross coupling between the input and output ports is reduced by a factor of more than ten. The fabricated thin film filter shows good performance and consistency with design and theory. The measured return loss in the passband is more than 23 dB. The insertion loss is 0.66 dB corresponding to a filter Q of 36,000. Steep rejection slopes at the band edges are obtained. The wide band rejection is 95 dB.
