This paper contains significant duplication of original text from the paper cited below. The original text was copied without attribution (including appropriate reference to the original authors and/or paper title) and without permission.
Due to the nature of this violation, reasonable effort should be made to remove all past references to this paper, and future references should be made to the following article:
"Switched Real-time Ethernet with Earliest Deadline First Scheduling-Protocols and Traffic Handling" by Hoai Hoang, Magnus Jonsson, Ulrik Hagstrom, and Anders Kallerdahl in the Proceedings of the International Parallel and Distributing Process Symposium (IPDPS), April 2002, pp 94-99
This paper provided a method to support traffic with industrial real-time applications over non-real-time LAN technology, without loss of generality to use common protocol suits like TCP/IP. In addition, real-time Ethernet communication can be extended with some support for real-time communication over a shared-medium topology, which does not require any modification to existing Ethernet hardware.
