Abstract :
In the recent years, provision of ICT to rural communities has become of paramount importance to both national and international organizations in order to bridge the digital divide. This paper discusses ways of providing broadband communication in rural areas where the communication infrastructure is either underdeveloped or nonexistent. It looks at both fixed wireless and wired technologies. It also looks at the possibility of hybrid wireless-wireless and wired-wireless systems.
