Abstract
One of the key issues in designing a variable structure organization is to find the constraints on folding the appropriate fixed structures for different situations into one variable structure. The coordination constraint is discussed that must be satisfied to ensure that the folding is valid so that the variable structure organization is a feasible one. A mathematical framework, based on colored Petri nets, is developed for representing variable structure organizations. A simple example is employed to illustrate the procedure
