Abstract
The data transmission performance close to Shannon´s limit can be achieved by means of using optimal signal sets and their optimal recognition algorithms. For channels with additive white Gaussian noise the optimal performance criteria is based on the Euclidean distance. The results of an investigation of discrete multiplicative signal sets are presented. These signal sets were proved to have many useful properties for applications in digital communication systems. The construction methods of discrete multiplicative signal sets are based on Vilenkin-Krestenson functions
