Abstract
Summary form only given. An accelerator scheme based on a DC photo-injector and a RF superconducting linac has been proposed as a new CEA facility. 20 electron pulses carrying 100 nC each will be extracted, accelerated at 2.5 MeV in the DC gun before entering the RF linac. The DC gun will be coupled to a high voltage generator coming from the AIRIX prototype PIVAIR. This generator delivers a 2.5 MV voltage pulse to the diode in which the 20 electron bunches will be emitted an accelerated. The characteristics of the generator will be reviewed and the latest design of the cathode and anode geometry will be presented in this paper. From this design we can obtain a first estimation of beam dynamics in the photo-injector and study the magnetic extraction system which will deliver the beam to the RF linac.
