  • Abstract
This paper describes a method for deriving characteristics of customers in a financial field. In this field, each company has stored a large amount of customer information that was gotten when customers contracted. A customer support section is established basically for customers who contracted. A customer complains the section about his contract by phone and a staff in the section answers the complaint. The staff records the complaint, but it isn´t used again. We proposed a method for deriving characteristics of customers who complained. The method derives useful rules when using the rule induction. We applied the method to the actual data of the customer support section in the financial field and confirmed the validity of the method
