Abstract :
Summary form only given. A high voltage resonant pulser is designed by using an air core transformer. Triple resonant circuit is used to step up the primary voltage. The voltage step-up ratio is designed as about eleven at the charging stage. A distributed PFN is used to form a squre waveform. The output has an overvolted sparkgap switch that transfers energy to a matched resistive load with the PFN. The pulser is positioned in a cylindrical transformer oil tank. The height and diameter of the tank are respectively 1.06 m and 1.28 m. A dummy water load will be used to test the pulser. Design procedures and preliminary test results will be presented.
