Abstract :
A 10 kW, 50 kHz resonant inverter development effort for a radar transmitter application is presented. Well-behaved and constant loads are not assumed in order to show topology function; rather, the parameters used are a real life set with variations that pose severe design problems. The tradeoffs for circuit topology selection are outlined, and the final high-power full-bridge hybrid topology is shown. An equivalent lower-power half-bridge version of the same hybrid topology is developed. The equivalence is nonobvious. Computer circuit simulations and measured data are used to show performance.<>
