After careful and considered review of the content of this paper by a duly constituted expert committee, this paper has been found to be in violation of IEEE´s Publication Principles.
We hereby retract the content of this paper. Reasonable effort should be made to remove all past references to this paper.

Foundation of mechanical manufacturing technology is a new technical foundation course which requires linking concepts with technical skills. The usual approach has been to divide the course into lectures, tutorials, and practical. Students often struggle with the vast collection of new terms and complex applications that they must learn, which can be challenging to them. This paper presents the introduction of problem-based learning (PBL) modules into foundation of mechanical manufacturing technology curriculum at Tianjin University of Technology. Additionally, each step of PBL is presented with an example.
