Abstract :
The authors develop the Electromagnetic Transients Program (EMTP) model for the General Electric (GE) BDD15B transformer differential relay. An important feature of the model is the ability of the user to set the relay. The relay model is provided with the features of percentage and harmonic restraint. The features of the BDD15B relay are explained. The modeling of the various relay components is elaborated in detail. The validation of this relay was accomplished by using test data for relay testing done on the power system simulator at the American Electric Power Company. The validation results are in good agreement with the test data and are tabulated
