Abstract
In this paper, we report the results of our study on the effect of polarization of the pump on the downstream data signal in a remote Raman amplified WDM-PON. It was observed that for linearly polarized pump, if the azimuth angle was increased beyond 50°, the BER of the downstream signal fell below the threshold of 1e-12. The maximum gain due to remote Raman amplification was obtained at the azimuth angle of 5°.
