Title :
The role of electricity storage and pump storage with adjustable speed machines
Abstract :
Summary form only given. Pump storage is a mature technology that has been used to store electricity on the bulk power grid for many years. The traditional use of pump storage has been to store electricity by pumping water to an upper reservoir, with low cost base-load energy during early morning hours, and generating during peak load hours during the work day. This form of arbitrage has provided the economic basis for pump storage projects. In addition conventional pump storage units can provide frequency regulation and load following in the generation mode.
